A very tasty, quick, super simple side dish.
There’s not a lot to say about this…it’s just so easy to make and perfect with far too many dishes.
For those of you who haven’t tried Flower Sprouts / Kalette PLEASE make this your next food experiment, you really won’t regret it. I only found them a couple of months ago, now all of a sudden I keep seeing them…luckily my favourite cooperative grocery has them in too…phew. They are actually quite addictive and very cute looking.
Thankfully they are amazingly good for you too – full of vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E – basically ‘immune system heaven’.
The taste of Flower Sprouts is just beautiful too, they are SO sweet and nutty. I can’t believe I’m writing this post when I haven’t got any in my house, my stomachs rumbling like crazy now and I haven’t got time to buy some…oh well…I can but dream…
For this recipe all I’ve done is pan fry them in coconut oil for 4-6 minutes with plenty of chopped garlic, lots of fresh Ginger and a hot fresh chilli. Finished off with a squeeze of lemon juice.
Simples.
By the way, if you can’t find Flower Sprouts then use Brussel Sprouts instead – honestly try it, you’ll never look at a sprout the same way again.

Wash the Flower Sprouts / Kalette and carefully chop off any overly thick stems. Heat the oil in your pan and when this gets hot add the garlic, ginger and chilli. The sizzle and smell of this will make your mouth water. Toss these around for a minute or so - the oil gets really tasty then you can add all your flower sprouts. Make sure they all get coated in the delicious oil and then cook on each side for a couple of minutes. They don't need long at all 5-6 minutes should do it, if you prefer them a little softer just cook for longer. If you find the oil sticks just keeps stirring and add a tbsp of water to deglaze.
